5rhythms Workshop: When the body heals the mind
5rhythms It can be explained that only nobody will really understand. Only those who have danced can take a closer look at what it is about. Or better: feel. The complexity of the matter is difficult in words. The founder Gabrielle Roth, unfortunately already deceased, once said: “Energy moves in waves. Waves move in shapes. Forms move in rhythms. A human being is exactly that. Energy, waves, shapes, rhythms. No more and no less – a dance.” Understood?
Like life, 5rhythms are a way. It starts for most of them with a two -hour dance experience – and never ends. How should he also if life suddenly becomes 5rhythms.
In any case, the 5rhythm path is paved with colorful flyers. Invitations to give your dance such quality and depth that are even able to heal your mind – as the promise. With a 5rhythm workshop. At the latest then the question grew in which sect you have landed.
A 5rhythm workshop (mandatory at least 15 hours of 5rhythms) is a longer event that can take up to ten days, but mostly takes one to two and a half days. The maxim is: Eat, Sleep, Dance, Repeat. And, that much is certain: it really really starts with the 5rhythms. There are “Heartbeat” workshops in which you are looking deep into yourself and research your emotions. With “Cycles” you can find out and dance your life story. “Mirrors” workshops focus on the ego, identity and pattern. The focus Is based on self -awareness, exposure to self -deception and being authentic. “God, sex, and the body” is a 5rhythm workshop that researches the topics of spirituality, sexuality and physicality. “Shadow Work” is about your dark sides. No wonder that 5rhythms are also used in trauma therapy.
“From the perspective, you could consider that emotion is energy in motion.”
“If you get your psyche in motion, she heals herself,” said Gabrielle Roth. The Belgian Chris Camp, one of the gifted 5rhythm teachers, calls it this: “In a 5rhythm Heartbeat workshop, we deliberately examine the embodiment of our emotional experiences. Every emotion has a purpose, or more precisely, every emotion can have several purposes. If, for example, we allow the emotion to make an angle, to make it to the limits, to make our needs and to make our needs, and It could be seen from the perspective. Add to support the energy of the emotion, to move through us. So we start step by step to connect with our hearts again and learn to express our emotional heart, not through words, but through movement, through action, through embodiment. ”
Dancing within the group can be introduced as a profound, physical-emotional journey that is characterized by movement, connection and a safe space. The group creates an atmosphere in which each person can dance individually, while the collective energy offers a feeling of support and community. And between the dances: exercises, exercises, exercises. So you may actually sit opposite you and confess your deepest emotional suffering. Or you dance – before the eyes. That requires courage, but it’s worth it. You hold on your hands. You cry. And hug. And cry. And laughs. And cry.
“The 5rhythms are not about understanding, but about giving ourselves an experience that can be felt.“
“We regain all the functions of every emotion that we have somehow lost over the years. Fear brings mobilization and the ability not to get stuck, anger brings clarity, the ability to express our needs from a position of authorization, empty us and clean us, make joy and begin to connect, combine us and create a feeling of togetherness. And these are only the primary emotions that are often the things that are often are designated. He knows that it is not so easy to understand: “The 5rhythms are not about understanding, but about giving ourselves an experience that can be felt. We have the saying: a picture says more than a thousand words. I would like to add: An experience says more than a million pictures. ”
Yes, something happens there. Maybe I am emotionally too underdeveloped, spiritually safe as that I could grasp it. “If you move your body, you can flow your soul,” I hear Gabrielle angels in my head. Chris tries as follows: “In these contexts I am currently using words such as” our physiology “or” our nervous system “instead of the word” body “. When we refer to the body in our practice, we mean our entire body, including the nervous system, neurotransmitter, hormones, biology and physiology. With the help of our 5rhythm card, we can work with the movement of different body parts to support changes in our neuro-bio-physiology. ” And he quotes Gabrielle Roth: “If you get the body moving, the psyche heals itself.”
What, I ask, is crucial? What leads to healing? The group’s absolute ACTANT? The protected space in which everyone can be and do? “It may be that the answer to this question is different for everyone. Or even depending on the situation, context and topic that we work on. An important aspect is of course the feeling of security. And there are some ways to create this feeling of security. There are different ingredients that can help, things such as clarity, structure, social connection, physical security, even things like temperature and the environment are some of the possibilities.”
The rest is – at least for me – in secret. Still. But I dance. As often as possible. And it’s wonderful.
Voices of participants in a 5rhythm workshop (name changed):
“The 5 rhythms dance weekend ‘Healing Broken Connections’ was a wonderful and intensive experience for me. It led me back to my liveliness and associated me with my innermost. With my potential, wishes, desires and in general with my emotions. Senatic with a lot of knowledge about the dreamaractions of man, I felt well through the weekend. The alternative options with the whole body are of great importance.

“I long longed for a deep dance block again, because I felt that this can help me to deal better with challenging situations in life … In the course of the 5rhythm workshop, it became very aware that 5rhythm dance is, among other things, help to coping with life, because I can feel myself so much that I can deal with things differently … Is beautiful and an important regular practice – if the workshops are missing, the waves are no longer substantial enough for me – it is like walking: going to an alpine pasture is nice and often the only way to stand on the summit every now and then, the alp as a goal, loses its shine at some point, but I only noticed that on the last day of work, how well I can be. Dut … It was almost magical for me that my topic, which was present at the beginning of the workshop, was illuminated by all units, was illuminated by different sides and gained a lot more comfortable until the end or I gained another view of it … I wish to be able to change the perspective and the circumstances myself, whenever the topic appears stressful again … I was guided by a deep immersion in the emotions because I felt safe and held … I slept as long and deep from Saturday to Sunday. ”
